World Water Day 2016 - also the tenth anniversary of our Mission Water programme - was the perfect opportunity to welcome students to our AVRA Natural Mineral Water plant in Aeghion to learn more about water stewardship.

We place a major focus on our water stewardship efforts and this year’s World Water Day, combined with the tenth anniversary of our CSR programme, Mission Water, was a good reason for us to celebrate.

The venue couldn’t be other than our plant in Aeghion, one of the largest and most significant industries in the Peloponnesus area. The Aeghion plant, producing and bottling AVRA Natural Mineral Water, AVRA Bloom and AVRA ActiveCap, stands as a symbol of efficiency in water management.

We were happy to welcome 100 local high school students and show them how responsible water management is directly related with our ability to grow - not only as a business, but also as individuals - all in harmony with our environment.

The students had the chance to take part in an educational session called The Gift of Rain, where they could learn more about the water cycle and how they can personally contribute to saving water. These educational activities were coordinated by the Mediterranean Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE). More than than 12,750 students and teachers have taken part in the courses since 2008 through our CSR programme, Mission Water.

As we are close to our country's young people, we have an opportunity to help them understand the importance of water and to share the message of sustainable development. This helps us build different cultural attitudes towards water stewardship and a foundation for a better future.
