The 262 students of the 92nd Elementary School in Thessaloniki now have “The School They Want”.
On 12 September, the 262 students of the 92nd Elementary School in Thessaloniki couldn’t wait to get to their school! They were starting the academic year in a totally renovated school building: safer, friendlier and more attractive, thanks to our CSR programme, The School You Want.
The 92nd Elementary School of Thessaloniki took part in this year’s voting after the Parents Association proposed it to their Municipality. Thanks to the mobilisation and engagement of parents, students, teachers and the local community, the school was elected by a public vote, winning the majority of votes among the nine schools that took part this year. The eight fellow candidate schools received a voucher of €500 to improve school equipment.
More than 30 constructors worked through the summer and managed to complete 50 significant interior and exterior improvements in just 40 days, making sure that the school would be ready to welcome its 262 students in the beginning of the academic year.
- 50 significant repairs made
- €100,000 invested
- 262 students
The Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr Yannis Boutaris, visited the renovated premises a few days before the beginning of classes. He was briefed on all the work that had been done - an investment of more than €100,000.
The result of the efforts of Coca‑Cola Tria Epsilon to upgrade the school facilities was excellent. This effort shows how necessary the cooperation between the public and private sector is, during all phases of everyday life. Unfortunately, the Municipality cannot do everything on its own, so the search for funds from other sources, such as a company like Coca‑Cola Tria Epsilon, with a proven record of dynamic sensitivity, is essential. Yannis Boutaris, Mayor of Thessaloniki
I would like to thank once again Coca‑Cola Tria Epsilon for this initiative, thanks to which our school has totally changed. All of us, students and teachers, we waited impatiently for September, to start the new academic year in our renovated building, which will contribute significantly to the overall educational experience. Efstratios Bosdelekidis, Director of the 92nd Elementary School of Thessaloniki
The CSR programme ‘The school You Want’, launched in 2012, is improving the daily educational experience for students and teachers, by covering the costs of repairing and renovating school buildings. It’s touching the lives of not just students but parents, teachers, local authorities and the general public too.
By September 2016, we had invested more than €1.1m and renovated 13 schools in Athens and Thessaloniki. As a result, more than 4,500 students are enjoying an inspiring, new, improved and friendlier school environment.
