Empowering Young People to Pursue their dreams

Youth unemployment in Greece has reached 39.4% and half a million have left the country since 2008. At the same time, employers are struggling to find the right candidates for their vacancies. We stand by the Greek youth and try to bridge this skills’ gap with Youth Empowered! The program brings together like-minded companies and HR experts, being the most inclusive, free and open corporate initiative with the ambition to help the young people in Greece become employable. Since 2017 it has provided skills, mentoring and professional networking to 8,500 people, enabling them to make a positive change in their lives and pursue their dreams.

Youth Empowered is the largest employability initiative of the private sector in Greece. This long-term flagship community program started in 2017 and is targeted to youngsters between 18-30 years old that are not in the job market, education or training. With the key message “Discover, Develop, Succeed” the aim of the Program is to actively engage 20,000 people by 2020 and enable them to make a positive change in their lives by pursuing meaningful job opportunities.

The program has initiated a coalition for Greece’s Youth, with some of the largest, most responsible and pioneering employers offering mentoring and employment opportunities, such as Microsoft and retail chain METRO AVEE. In total, 23 leading companies and institutions are with us in this endeavor; a dynamic multi-stakeholder partnership of potential employers aiming at capacity building.


Almost two years Youth Empowered: what we have achieved

  • 8,500 young people participated either though live workshops/training or via the program’s platform ( with value adding, e-learning skills content;
  • more than 150 mentors
  • more than 1,750 hours of mentoring 

The program includes seminars and interactive workshops in cities across Greece. In the first completed year of the Program, Youth Empowered has conducted four physical trainings in 4 major cities with more than 550 participants. The curriculum is created with HR consultants and includes:

All year-round Digital Platform (Hub) with free e-learning courses and virtual classrooms for nearly 5,000 registered users 

The digital platform of the program offers a unique combination of educational materials and interactive tools. A strong team of mentors, prominent professionals with the help of an interactive communication and e-learning system in a gamified environment give answers and directions through 10 training modules and free thematic virtual classrooms. The educational material is accessible upon sign-up, and users can attend online seminars and sessions. In the Digital Hub the user can find e-learnings for Life & Business Skills, Inspirational videos from mentors, tutorials and be part of Interactive communities. The user also can participate in organized virtual classrooms with leading executives from Coca‑Cola Tria Epsilon and from the job market.

Through the pioneering Digital Hub, the following modules are available, covering fundamental business and life skills, accompanied by presentations, training documents and self-assessment test. Upon completion of each e-module participants receive an e-certificate of attendance that they can use on their CV:

11 Virtual  Classrooms: a free tool that brings participants closer to executives with potential bosses

Youth Empowered platform offers ‘’Virtual Classrooms’’, an innovative free of charge tool that allows mentors to interact with participants across Greece, share presentations and videos, communicate with users and assign them to group exercises.

Each on line classroom can support up to 200 participants and it offers a range of interactive buttons and tools. Participants can sign in for the classrooms they prefer from their personalized calendar in Youth Empowered Platform.
