Aeghion plant

Our Aeghion Plant is one of the largest in the region and produces AVRA Natural Mineral Water, thanks to its location near the Achaean mountains. 
We significantly support the economy of Aigialeia, Achaia, and the Peloponnese in general, through job creation in various production sectors of the factory, as well as through partnerships with local raw material suppliers.

In 2016, the AVRA Natural Mineral Water production unit was certified by the European Water Stewardship (EWS), and in 2020 it received the highest certification (Platinum) for responsible water management from the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS). In the following years, 2021 and 2022, the factory renewed this certification. It is the first natural mineral water bottling plant in Greece to be awarded the highest AWS certification.

We use water more efficiently, with a declining water ratio over the past nine years (1.68 liters per liter of product in 2015 and 1.12 in 2024, a 33% reduction), while aiming for further reductions. 

Transforming the plant into a climate-neutral facility is the next step in its sustainable development, as part of our Group’s strategy to achieve NetZeroby40.

We use electricity from 100% renewable sources, with a declining energy ratio over the past nine years (0.21 MJ per liter of product in 2015 and 0.12 in 2024, a 42.8% reduction). 

Since 2022, it is a zero-waste plant, as it recycles and reuses 100% of its waste, increasing the already high rate (96%) achieved in 2020.

Since 2016, we have reduced the volume of plastic by an average of 23% for PET and 12.5% for glass used in bottling AVRA Natural Mineral Water at our Aeghion Plant. 
Since 2017, by reducing plastic use in Avra Bloom by 27% and Active Cap by 18%, we save approximately 60 tons of plastic annually. 
By setting the bar even higher, we have put in motion a targeted action plan to completely eliminate carbon emissions from the plant’s production process.

We are continuously reducing our company’s ecological footprint through the adoption of the most advanced practices is always a priority for us and is not strictly limited to our direct operations. It also involves other links in the supply chain—our suppliers and distributors—and extends to the wider community through the development and implementation of awareness and education programs.

We make sure to always stay close to the needs of people in the areas where we operate. In the wider region of Achaia and the Peloponnese, we have carried out more than 50 social initiatives over the past four years.
